elements for spiritual revival

In these times where the world is experiencing crisis after crisis whole nations and communities are being negatively affected by certain events taking place. These effects include failing economies, child trafficking, and breakdown of families just to name a few.

Instead of facing the situation with despondency you can choose to look forward to a more positive future because of what the Word of God tells us. Events today are nothing new in the context of history because what’s happening today has happened before and overcome.

You can look at the times of the children of Israel leaving Egypt, Joseph’s governance in Egypt and King Jehoshaphat’s leadership in a time when Israel was under threat from a foreign king.

In modern day history movements such as the Jesus Revolution began with a prayer for revival which started small and eventually spread to other nations. Leaders such as Reverend Billy Graham were at the forefront of this move and numerous lives were changed and led to Christ.

God can turn your situation around when you get grounded in the following requirements:

1. Right standing with God

The Word of God tells us in Isaiah 59:2 that our sins are what separate us from God. Without a close relationship with the Lord there is nothing significant that He can do in your life. He commands all men everywhere to repent of their wicked ways.

Believe on the Lord Jesus and you shall be saved if you have never given your life to Him. Submit yourself to God and you will have the privilege of being called a son of the Most High. Your relationship with God is the most important part of your life as everything else will hinge on that. Accept Him into your life and choose to abide by His commandments.

Go through the Bible and look at the people that did great and mighty exploits. We see people like Joseph, King David, Moses, Joshua, Esther, Nehemiah, Paul of Tarsus, King Jehoshaphat and many more. They all hungered for God and His will for their lives. While they were not perfect beings they knew always to turn to God for forgiveness and get back on the right path.

2. Right standing with your brethren

You can think of being in right standing with God as your vertical relationship. Another important aspect of your life is your horizontal relationship with fellow brethren in the faith. As a parent that delights in seeing their children loving one another so is God when He sees us love one another here on earth.

Whatever God wants to do in your life he makes use of the people around you and that is why being at peace with others is important. Where you may have broken or fractured relationships take it upon yourself to put things right with those people.

Another reason why it is important to be in right relationship with others is because the world will be drawn to the Kingdom of God by our love for one another. People everywhere are hurting and want a sense of belonging and community where they can be loved.

It is not just in preaching the Word of God that people will be drawn to God but more so by the acts of kindness and genuine love for your brethren. Our actions speak louder than our words and that is what makes the biggest impact.

3. Unity of purpose

Where there is agreement there is power that can overcome even the most impossible situations in life. The first example of unity seen in the Bible is that of the group of people that were building the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11. While their mission was prideful it caught God’s attention and declared that nothing would be impossible for men if they are one.

If evil men can be united in purpose and shift things in this world what more you and I as believers in the Lord Jesus? Unity of purpose with other believers will help you achieve much more than you could by yourself.

In this life you cannot afford to walk alone, you will not get very far. We are wired to walk with others and be in relationship with them for the purpose of achieving great and mighty exploits. There is real power in agreement and many lives are transformed in the process.

Thank you for making time to read the post. I hope you learned something valuable that you will apply to your life. A simple prayer for revival in unity with fellow believers can accomplish things beyond what you can even think or imagine.
