Successful people have similar things in common that differentiate them from average people. It is not that they are any better than others. They just do things that other people are unwilling to do. There are certain ingredients they mix that bring success in life that you too can adopt. Let us look at these special ingredients that they use.
In life you get rewarded for the value you bring to the table. You get paid or rewarded for solving people’s problems and addressing their pain points. The bigger the problem you solve the higher the reward that you receive. An example that comes to mind is that of King David in the Bible. He came up against Goliath whom no one else had the courage and ability to conquer.
“Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men.” ~ Proverbs 22:29
The reward for defeating this giant was riches, King Saul’s daughter and exemption from paying taxes. David’s encounters with bears and lions as a shepherd boy prepared him for this very moment to fight Goliath. It would culminate into a significant part of Israel’s history as he defeated Goliath. Success in life comes from opportunity meeting preparation.
He worked on his craft and when the opportunity presented itself he was prepared and reaped the benefits. Therefore a lesson you need to remember is that it is better to prepared and not have an opportunity than to have the opportunity and not be prepared.
Steve Jobs once said, “The only way you can do great work is to love what you do.” Passion means you are so engaged with your work that it does not really feel like work to you. It is important that your passion is something that you are skilled at as well and can make a difference to other people.
“The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he’s always doing both.” ~ James A. Michener
You know you are passionate about something when you don’t mind losing some sleep because you have so much enthusiasm about it. Enthusiasm is a key factor to attracting people. Be on fire about what you do so other people come and watch you burn. Any great person that has accomplished much in life was passionate about what they did.
It is sad to see when divorce happens or someone gives up on their dreams when the going gets tough. Whatever goals you want to achieve in life you need to understand that making them a reality comes at a price. Life will reward you as long as you are willing to pay the necessary price to win.
Do not be like most people who give up at the first sign of hardship or danger; you need to be committed to seeing it through to the end. Whether you are studying towards your degree, setting up a business, building a relationship or raising children it requires commitment to achieve your desired outcome.
There is nothing in life as something for nothing. To have a successful life be diligent to do what you need to do and God will grant you favor and do that which you are not able to do yourself. Successful people simply make the decision to win and pay the price daily to achieve their goals.
Attitude plays a huge part in having a successful life. It can be the difference between winning and losing in sports even when you have similar skill levels as your opponent. Carrying a positive attitude even when your situation looks bleak helps you identify opportunities to win that are not so obvious to others.
“It is your attitude, more than your aptitude, that will determine your altitude.” ~ Zig Ziglar
When you become negative your mind shuts down and makes it almost impossible to see any good things from your situation. I have experienced this and I know other people that were affected by their attitude towards people, themselves and circumstances around them. You always have the choice to respond in a positive or negative way to what life throws at you.
Young people have a tendency to carry bad attitudes into early adulthood and mess up their lives in the process. Maintain a good and positive attitude as you go through life.
In the battle between the rock and the stream it is the stream that always wins. No obstacle can ultimately withstand a force that will not stop no matter how long it takes. Anything worthwhile thing you pursue will always face opposition.
“Perseverance always outlasts persecution.” ~ Edwin Louis Cole
The only way through is through. Keep going, keep moving forward no matter how hard it gets because ultimately you win.
Adopt these same ingredients into your life and make the best recipe of success that you can. Remember, successful people are not better than anyone. They just choose to do things that most others are unwilling to do.
