More than half of the world population leads a mediocre life only because they choose not to take control of their lives. That does not have to be the case because everyone is given the power to think and make decisions. Steve Biko once said, “The greatest weapon in the hand of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed.”
“I went by the field of the lazy man, and by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding; And there it was, all overgrown with thorns; Its surface was covered with nettles; its stone wall was broken down.” ~ Proverbs 24:30-31
A mind left to itself will attract much misfortune that comes about in various ways. Take control of your mind and you will live a better and fulfilling life. If you let it run wild it will bring much calamity upon your life. Here are 8 dangers to avoid by taking control of your mind:
1. Falling into depression
When you are not winning in life and your goals and aspirations do not seem to have hope of manifesting life begins to look bleak. The human mind starts attracting all sorts of negative thoughts that can lead to anxiety and ultimately into a state of depression if you allow it to.
When you sense that you are starting to get depressed arrest your thoughts and get into the presence of God and cast all your cares upon Him because He cares for you.
2. Becoming ill
Leaving the human mind to run on autopilot easily leads to illness of all kind. Have you ever come across people that speak negatively when life turns sour for them? When you are constantly complaining the mind attracts negative things into your life and they gradually affect your body in the form of disease.
I heard of a story of a man who prophesied his own death after hearing bad news about his condition in hospital. Good health is a combination of eating right, exercising and filling your mind with positive things. Do those things and you will avoid getting ill.
3. Attracting poverty
In a world where the wealthiest people are 3% of the entire population it is safe to say that our default programming attracts poverty into our lives. Wealthy people do not accumulate riches by accident but they understand that the mind has to be set right in order to attract them and do what they need to do.
They do not leave their minds on autopilot. They speak affirmations that lead to wealth creation and develop and follow plans that ensure they do. So do the same and you will attract wealth into your life.
4. Broken relationships
Leaving your mind to run loose affects your behavior and relationships in a negative manner. This particular point is critical because if you get to a point where the people closest to you get fed up of your nonsense you may not have support from anyone.
Your relationships with other people are important because who you are today is a credit to the people that have helped you get to that point.
5. Missed opportunities
Underachievement can be traced to missing out on the opportunities that come your way. While you may not always get all of them making a consistent habit of passing up opportunities will leave you miserable and unfulfilled.
Missed opportunities lead to poverty in the long run so tune your mind to identify and take advantage of opportunities when they present themselves to you.
6. Wastage of time and resources
When you do not have a plan because you have not intentionally determined what you will do with your life anything goes. When anything goes time and resources tend to be wasted on foolish things. Give your mind something to work with so that you come up with a solid plan.
Time is one commodity that once wasted can never be recovered therefore make good use of it. Choose not to leave the mind on autopilot and develop a plan that will maximize your time and resources.
7. A broken identity
There is a quote by Sun Tzu that says, “If you know yourself and know the enemy, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither yourself nor the enemy, you will succumb in every battle. ”
When you do not know who you are the potential inside of you will not blossom. Not having identity is associated with low self-esteem and a lack of confidence. Study the word of God and know who you are in Jesus Christ.
8. Deception by the enemy
The devil is a liar and the father of all lies. When you do not know who you are and what your life purpose is the devil will deceive you and walk all over you. His cunning nature may make you believe that you are on the right track when in truth you are going off course.
It comes down to knowing what God wants you to do as you seek Him and understand the principles of His kingdom.
