When you ask people about their dreams and ambitions they will almost always express their desire to achieve their full potential. Most people especially the young generation want to run businesses, make money, travel around the world, spend more time with their families, etc And that is a good thing as indicated in Proverbs 29:18,
“Where there is no vision the people perish.”
More often than not you might find yourself falling short on achieving your goals because of certain things. We have looked at goal setting in a previous post and if you have your goals in place that is a positive first step. You are already better off than someone that hasn’t set any goals.
A couple of things need to be addressed as you begin working on your goals to achieve the desired results. Some of the obstacles that I have encountered as well as others I’ve seen other people make are as follows:
- Lacking the discipline to follow through on your set goals
- Failure to prioritize the important things
- Focusing more on self than serving others
- Lack of integrity
- Having an entitlement mentality, and more…
There is a serious misconception among many people that as long as you set goals they are somehow going to just make themselves happen. There is nothing God will do in our lives without our participation. It is a case of faith without works being dead. When we do the things we are supposed to do we start progressing in the right direction.
If you want to make money and create long term success in every area of your life there has to be a shift in your mindset to start doing the right things. I have been taught by mentors that money is really just a by-product of the value that you create for other people. In other words, you need to focus more on creating value for others than you do on the money.
In the next few weeks we are going to be looking at the mindsets that you need to accomplish the goals that you have set out to accomplish for your life. How we think is just as important as what we do to make progress with our lives. Learning them could be the difference between success and failure in whatever you do. Advancing in the direction of your ambitions will require your willingness to do things differently.
