Be Courageous at the Crossroad – Part 2

Be Courageous at the Crossroad – Part 2

- in Life

“I believe the most valuable contribution a parent can make to his child is to instill in him a genuine Faith in God.” ~ Dr. James Dobson

You may have watched the movie Courageous, a Kendrick Brothers production from the year 2011, which carries some important life lessons that we can all learn from. It is a story about four police officers that face the pressures of life in the police office while looking after their families where they also have challenges. One of the officers, whose daughter is killed in a car accident, comes to the realization that God wants him to take his role as a father seriously as he still has a son.

With the help of his pastor he resolves to take up the responsibility and influences his colleagues to do the same. They learn the importance of loving their families and leading them in the Word of God because at the end of the day, their salvation is all that really matters.

It’s very easy to neglect our responsibility as believers to share the good news with the lost due to demanding careers, working extra hard to make ends meet, worrying about how to provide for family, raise money for school fees, rent, and all other reasons we can think of.

The souls of our children, family members and the people God has put in our lives are more important than anything else. At the end of your days it won’t matter that you broke sales records in your organization, won a world championship, obtained several degrees at varsity, gained popularity at school, etc. This doesn’t mean we should not pursue the dreams He has placed in our hearts. Prioritising His work before anything else is what’s important.

The world is a very noisy place today. There are so many things that want your attention and that makes life very difficult. Children are the most vulnerable of all especially because most of them have not learned what they need to prioritize in their lives. As a result they can easily be misled and carried away by the negatives things of the world.

Be courageous as a parent to make the time to engage with your children, teaching them the Word of God so that when they grow they will not depart from it. It is a great responsibility being a parent but God is a faithful God who gives parents the grace and ability to fulfil their responsibilities.

All that will really matter is how many lives you touched through your faith. Let your light shine through the life that you live, let it communicate God’s love and minister to them. Your personal example and testimony are the most powerful tools for evangelism. They are a great opportunity to share your faith at a deeper level with those in your sphere of influence.

Live your life to glorify God and serve others; that is the model of servant leadership that Jesus Christ set for us after all. Please share your views and comments below.
