Boy Meets Girl

This is a book I definitely recommend to singles that are looking to find fulfillment in a godly relationship. Marriages that stand the test of time are built on a strong foundation and those that don’t are usually built on a weak foundation. The author, Joshua Harris, shares lessons from the Word of God on how to build and nurture relationships that last.

God’s plan has always been to do great works through the family structure as illustrated in Genesis 26:4-5, “And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed; because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.

Satan’s plan has always been to disrupt the family structure and rob us of God’s blessing upon our families and world at large. The devil deceived Adam and Eve into eating the forbidden fruit to disrupt God’s plan for mankind and he is still doing the same today. A lot of what we see on TV and Hollywood pertaining to relationships is contrary to God’s plan for godly and fruitful relationships.

This book is not so much about relationship tips. It is an outline of Kingdom principles that you can apply in the area of relationships. This was the first book I read about this particular topic and I can’t tell you how much of an eye opening experience it was. I had so many a-ha moments and realized how erroneous my approach to relationships had been as a result of the world’s influence.

Men and women are very different in their make up. Those differences are not meant for them to compete against each but rather to complement one another. The world portrays relationships in ways that are contrary to what the Word of God says. It is no wonder that the divorce rate all around the world is at about 50% due to a lack of understanding.

Learning what the Word of God says about relationships is a good investment, more so when you are still single. It will prepare you to get into a relationship built on a solid foundation. Even if you are already married or you realize you made mistakes somewhere it’s still a worthwhile investment to make in your life.

Boy Meets Girl shares valuable lessons about how we can follow God’s guidance in pursuing purposeful relationships through courtship. These are some of the key lessons that you will get from reading this book:

  • Dating is contrary to God’s plan for your life
  • Romance and wisdom are a match made in heaven
  • Embracing your God-given role as a man or woman
  • Courtship is a community project

I sincerely encourage getting a copy of this book for yourself and also share with others that you know that may benefit from reading it. You will definitely gain some valuable insight from the book. If you have read the book before please share your views in the comments section below and how this has helped you in your relationship because they matter.
