Slight Edge Jeff Olson

Slight Edge Jeff OlsonAt a first glance becoming successful in life might seem like a very complicated process and maybe almost impossible for the average person. In an article I wrote some time ago I mentioned the Slight Edge philosophy in passing. This is the single greatest book that I’ve come across that gives a blueprint on how to become successful in life. It doesn’t matter what field you are in; the principles apply in every area of life.

The author, Jeff Olson, narrates the principles in this timeless book which have helped him build million dollar organizations over the course of his career. What I love about the book is that the principles he shares are simple such that if you apply them you will have a great level of success at whatever you do.

Where we are today is based on the choices we made yesterday. The Slight Edge helps you understand the consequences of the choices we make on a daily basis. What may appear to be misfortune on one person or sheer luck on another can be reverse engineered to trace the choices that they made to be where they are. Nothing happens by accident.

In a world of so many gimmicks it’s very easy to get caught up in trying things that you think will make you a success overnight. In reality life doesn’t work that way. Part of the reason why that is true is that it takes time to develop the capacity to handle the level of success that you after in life.

Imagine a five year old immediately wanting to start driving its mom or dad’s vehicle. It sounds ridiculous, right? The child needs to develop certain abilities and skills before even contemplating doing something like that. There is a time for everything in life,

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.” ~ Ecclesiastes 3:1

If you are working towards getting a promotion at your job or start a business understand that you will need time to learn your craft under a boss. It could be anything else that you are aspiring to but the concept still applies. Jeff Olson does an amazing job of explaining the importance of consistency and the power of compounding effort over time.

He points out that you may not see a significant difference in your daily efforts but when you look at them over a period of time you will begin to see some notable differences that move you in the direction of your dreams.

Some of the key lessons you will learn from this book are:

  • What’s easy to do is also easy not to do
  • Successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do
  • There is a natural progression to everything in life: plant, cultivate, harvest
  • Position your daily actions so time is working for instead of against you

Don’t wait a minute longer! Get to your nearest bookstore and get some copies for yourself and your teams. My own life has been transformed as a result of applying these principles and it’s a continual process of getting better and better at what I do. I have also seen other people’s lives changed by following the principles too. You could be the next success story as you apply the same principles. I wish you all the best in your journey. Happy reading!!
