spiritual warfare and deliverance

At church recently the sermon preached was about the importance of embracing change if you are to grow in your walk with Jesus Christ. By nature change is something people avoid and so changing has to be an intentional process on your part. I have struggled to change in some areas of my life and it has resulted in missing out on numerous growth opportunities.

My own walk with Christ has not been solid and after listening to the sermon it became apparent to me that I had been slacking in my prayer life and meditating on the Word of God. The fact that you and I are spirit beings means that to remain in good shape we need to be connected to the Father in spirit through prayer and worship.

God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” ~ John 4:24

I have also been taught that life is spiritual and that everything we see in the natural first manifested in the spiritual realm. That means that every aspect of your life needs to be prayed about in the Spirit so that it manifests in the physical realm according to God’s will for your life.

The world is a corrupted place because of our sinful nature but thank God He gave us His son Jesus Christ to die for us on the cross. His death brought deliverance to mankind that we might be identified with Him and inherit the promises of His Word.

Without identifying with Christ you are bound to live a life of mediocrity and never experience the fullness of God’s blessing over your life. God’s desire for you is that you would experience Heaven right here on earth. To have this experience requires that you overcome spiritual laziness and connect with God

Here are 3 things that will connect you with God and help you experience the Kingdom of God on earth

1. Meditating on the Word of God

2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “Every scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action), so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Studying the Holy Bible is crucial to knowing the mind of God and engaging in spiritual warfare right way. The Bible also reveals who you are in Christ and the truth in His word shall set you free from bondage to the things of this world.

The more you meditate on His Word the wiser you will become. The wiser you become the more you will make the right decisions regarding your life and leading other people to Jesus Christ.

2. Prayer and worship

Prayer is simply communication with God Most High. It is not about saying long and meaningless prayer statements to get God’s attention. Just as you would talk to a friend is how prayer works. In Luke 11 Jesus taught His disciples how they were to pray and have fellowship with our heavenly father.

Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know.” ~ Jeremiah 33:3

The more time you spend with a friend the closer you become. When you have a close relationship with someone they tell you the secret things of their lives that they would normally not tell other people without the same level of relationship.

When you spend a lot of time in God’s presence He will reveal to you His secret plans for your life, your nation, your family or anything else that are not obvious to other people. You become a trusted friend of God that He can assign to do certain things to bring you and other people blessings.

3. Praise

When King Jehoshaphat was besieged by his enemies he called on Israel to fast and seek the Lord’s face. His people must have been surprised when he told them that they would put the musicians at the forefront to conquer their enemies. That is the strategy that God gave him and they were victorious at the end of the day.

Also when Paul and Silas were imprisoned they began to sing songs to the Lord until an earthquake shook the prison cells and set them free. In your times of distress praising God may easily be the last thing on your mind but it is a great weapon of spiritual warfare that will make you victorious.

Be diligent with seeking God daily because when you fall into the abyss of spiritual laziness your life will be in turmoil. You will not realize your full potential. Be sure to share the post and to leave your thoughts in the comments below.
