How Patience is A Virtue

- in Life

“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not grow weary, they shall walk and not be faint.” ~ Isaiah 40v31

“The strongest of all warriors are these two – Time and Patience.” ~ Leo Tolstoy

Patience is a virtue that is an integral part of long term success. Most of the time in an effort to achieve our goals immediately, we often miss the mark and end up achieving nothing of value. If you are willing to be patient great things will happen in your life.

Failed Plans

When we set our goals we usually have a particular, ‘To be achieved by date.’ Sometimes we meet our targets and sometimes we don’t. It’s a big challenge to start all over again when things turn out the way we expected them to be. It takes a lot to swallow your pride but it costs even more to give up completely and not give it another shot. Failure is always an opportunity to start again! It’s never the end of the world. You have the privilege to come back and fight more intelligently until you get the desired result.

Use The Time

It takes a lot of hard work to move from where you are to where you want to be. This is why we have time to work on developing skills, learn about our professions, and develop relationships and anything else that will improve our lives. Effective time management is essential to achieving success at a higher level. I have realized that when you do everything in its time and place you will achieve your goals in a measure of abundance. You will actually get more time to rest than disorganized people.

A man called La Fontaine once said, “Patience and delay achieve more than force and rage.” The journey of success is not a smooth or easy road to travel. This does not mean that it is impossible. We are more likely to suffer setbacks the higher we climb the success ladder. Things don’t always work out the way we want them to. However, to be successful you have to be willing to wait. That may mean taking more time to improve the quality of your life.

Make pursuing your goals a worthwhile experience. Abraham Lincoln was rewarded with the Presidency of the United States. He spent about thirty years of his life working towards that goal. When you decide that you will be humble and prepare to wait then you are on the right track. You are then able to enjoy both the journey and the destination when you get there. Time helps you to become wiser and makes you appreciate life. Make the right choices and be patient. Your breakthrough will surely come. I would like to share a poem that I read which I hope will encourage you to use time effectively:

Take Time

Take time to pray it helps to bring God near and washes the dust of earth away.

Take time for friends, it is a source of happiness

Take time for work, it is the price of success

Take time to think, it is the source of power

Take time to read, it is the foundation of knowledge

Take time to laugh, it is the lifter of life’s loads

Take time to play, it is the secret of youth

Take time to love, it is the sacrament of love

Take time to worship, it is the highway of reverence

Be all you can be!
