How To Follow Your Dreams

How To Follow Your Dreams

- in Life, Success

Discovering your Big Dream isn’t always a straightforward assignment to carry out. I know that’s what many people struggle with because I went through a similar struggle. The methods for realizing the dream may change from time to time and the dream may look different to what it was some years ago. However, the essence of the dream remains the same. In this post I will share with you some steps you can take to unlock your dream.

Think about the things you love to do and think about all the time. Also consider the resources that you have at your disposal. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. In other words start with what you have where you are. You give God a chance to reveal more of your Big Dream to you as you take action. Therefore taking action is your opportunity to discover more about your dream.

When you follow your dreams more often than not you will come across circumstances that make no sense in the context of your dream. You can easily be forced to think that the dream is not worth pursuing. Perhaps that thought is amplified because other people think the same.

What are the people you respect and are living their dream saying about your life? The answer to that question can reveal a lot about the Big Dream God has for your life. They may reveal things that we did not know about ourselves that can lead us in the direction of the dream.

Think about the things you wanted to do when you were growing up. You might refer to certain job descriptions but think about what those jobs meant to you. What purpose would they serve?

What have you been always good at? What needs do you care about most? Who do you admire most? What gives you fulfillment? What have you felt called to do?
You may be looking at the answers to those questions and saying, “How can someone like me achieve all this?” Remember that God especially loves Nobodies. He uses the foolish things of the world to shame the wise by worldly standards.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. God has given you the power to pursue them and because He is the author and perfecter of your faith He is obliged to see to it that the dreams He has placed in your heart come to pass. It is so that He gets the glory by showing Himself strong on your behalf.

The ball is in your court. God is waiting for you to take action on your dream. I am committed to taking action on my dream and I encourage you to do the same. Success is really about making someone else’s life better because you have lived. Do not base your success on what you can gain from others rather on how you can contribute to others and the rewards will come.

This quote by Robert Louis Stevenson says it best,

I consider the success of my day based on the seeds I sow, not on the harvest I reap.

Be all you can be!
