Whenever you aspire to do greater things with your life you need to understand that you are probably going to have to face things you may not have faced before. In order to get different results you need to do something differently. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a very huge change really. In most cases you just have to tweak your approach a little but it may be fearsome nonetheless.
1. Mindset Shift – Rely on God’s Faithfulness, Not Yourself
I recently looked at the story of Moses in the Bible when God called Him to rescue the Israelites from Pharaoh’s oppressive governance in Egypt. It was always his desire to see his compatriots free from the time when he dwelt in the palace before he escaped yet when the time came for him to do so he was afraid. It is normal to be afraid when you do something for the first time. What is key, however, is your response because that is what determines your destiny.
“‘Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.’ But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?’” ~ Exodus 3:10-11
Perhaps like Moses you don’t feel like you have what it takes to do anything worthy. The good news is that you don’t need to have everything at the offset. God makes provision along the way with each step of faith that you take. Rarely does the picture look perfect when you first get started on something new. Have faith in god and see the amazing things He can do in your life.
2. Walk by Faith, Not By Sight
Faith is the evidence of things not yet seen (Hebrews 11:1) you have to believe it first before it comes to fruition. That is how God operates. Without faith it is impossible to please Him.
“Take the first step of faith. You don’t need to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” ~ Martin Luther King Jnr
If you will just trust that God has your best interests at heart He will prosper you as you take each step of faith in the path that He directs you. All great accomplishments did not occur because the people involved knew everything they needed to know when they first got started. All they had was the vision of where they wanted to go and utilized the resources they had to do what they needed to do at each stage.
The more opportunities you utilize the more opportunity God will bring your way to move you closer and closer to the end goal. Be sure to enjoy the ride too besides just focusing on the destination.
