We have come to the end of another year and thank God that He has kept you thus far if you’re reading this. Unfortunately for some they did not make it this far and perhaps did not get to fulfil the desires of their hearts. At this point I would think that you have reflected on what you have done in the past year and have some sort of plan for the upcoming year. If you have that is good and if you haven? I urge you to do so.
I got some new insight recently that I would like to share with you as we prepare to enter the New Year. It is taken from the parable of the ten virgins in the Bible who were waiting on the bridegroom. You may remember that five of them were ready with oil in their lamps while the other five were not and made last minute arrangements to get oil but it was too late.
“And at midnight a cry was heard: Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him! ‘Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.
And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’
And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.'” ~ Matthew 25: 6-12
Notice in the first verse that it says at midnight. It seems like it is a significant part of the day where the destinies of people are determined. Perhaps you may be wondering how this relates to you. Your entire 2016 could be determined by how prepared you are to enter into it. This will be determined by who you allow to take control of your life, God or the devil. Many people are not aware that there is constant warfare taking place in the heavenly realm which influences the destinies of our lives.
The midnight hour is the gate that will lead us into the New Year and the owner of the gate will determine the outcome of the year ahead for you. The decision you have to make is whether the owner of that gate for you will be God or the enemy.
“Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, The LORD mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory.” ~ Psalm 24:7-10
In the above scriptures we notice doors and gates being lifted instead of being shut as the Lord, the King of glory comes in. I believe a lot of people’s aspirations are never realized because they do not understand this principle and the enemy shuts the doors that the Lord would have opened for them. He is ever accusing us to the Lord and because we do not come before God for deliverance from our wicked ways the enemy has the right to shut those doors of opportunity.
Instead of that come before the Lord in repentance for all your sins and dedicate the year ahead to Him. It will be essential to do so towards the midnight hour as we approach the New Year. It may be the difference between success and failure throughout the year.
I wish you the very best for the year ahead and please share with others so that they can also get the best out of the year that lies ahead of us. May the Lord abundantly bless you and make you prosper as you align yourself with His Word and the Holy Spirit.
