School Children from Marula School
As said by the famous teacher and scholar with a heart for children, Forest Witcraft, “A hundred years from now, it will not matter what my bank account was, how big my house was, or what kind of car I drove. But the world may be a little better, because I was important in the life of a child. We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today.“
This statement truly expresses our mission. Children are the heritage of any nation, and education is a lifelong investment and for this reason Rising Hope Foundation has made it a part of its mission to help vulnerable children in disadvantaged communities in Zimbabwe not to be deprived of this right. At present we have committed ourselves to assisting two schools, Marula School off Plumtree road, outside Bulawayo and Mawuya Secondary School in Karoi.
Both these schools have several needs that would make learning for the students that attend them more conducive if provided for. The one need we have identified that they have in common is one for textbooks. Students have had to share one textbook amongst 5-10 in a classroom for some subjects, which makes learning and producing a good work product difficult.
As a result, we have decided to have “A Penny for a Child’s Dream” Fundraising Dinner on March 21, 2015. Whereby, we are raising funds and asking donors and well-wishers to donate between now and March 20, 2015, so that Rising Hope is able to purchase the required textbooks and present them and any other donated resources to the respective heads of the schools at the Fundraising Dinner the next day.
We are appealing to all to help us reach our goal and make a difference in the lives of our children by donating to the cause.
