I have realized over a period of time that many people commit themselves to seeking the Lord at the beginning of each year. This is evident in many churches that spend time fasting and praying corporately seeking God’s guidance through the course of the year. I believe this is a very good practice as it helps you to get aligned with God and His Word.
We are now living in really difficult times, maybe the toughest in history given the problems that are being experienced worldwide. In spite of all the ideas that mankind has come up with they still cannot solve all the problems we are facing. Many times we think we can do things in our own strength but we then fall short all the time.
“If my people, who are called by My Name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” ~ 2 Chronicles 7:14
Realize that without God you are nothing and cannot accomplish anything of significance. For most people prayer is something they do as an after-thought when their original plans fail to materialize or do anything meaningful. Prayer is the first thing you should do early every morning in order to set yourself up for God’s best.
The power of prayer can accomplish that which we have not managed to do in our own strength like it says in the Bible in Matthew 19:26, “But Jesus looked at them and said to them, ‘With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Before engaging in the pursuit of your life goals you need to spend time fighting on your knees because our warfare is not in the flesh but in the Spirit.
In the back of my mind I supposedly understood the importance of praying first before engaging my plans but I then realized how I was constantly coming short on my achievements. Prayer has to be intentional and strategic. That is the secret weapon of the believer to defeat the enemy and you should use it to your advantage. Say a prayer for strength and/or a prayer for guidance to navigate the journey ahead because God is all knowing and will lead you to where you need to go.
I have seen miracles in my own life as well as in other people’s lives. I can truly testify that prayer is powerful. From seeing people healed to dead situations coming alive, God making provision when at the end of the rope, and more. Take time to create a prayer schedule for yourself and your family.
God listens to the effective fervent prayer of those that diligently seek his face. While it is important to take action having a prayer strategy should be at the top of your priorities because it is God who will give you the strategies for whatever that you are pursuing in your life.
Always remember that the enemy has only come to “steal, kill, and destroy” but Christ has come to give us life and to give it in abundance (John 10:10). So fight your battles in prayer first and then start taking the necessary action to accomplish what you are looking to accomplish.
