If you have watched the Kendrick Brothers movie, “War Room”, you will remember this line from prayer warrior, Ms Clara,
“To win any battle, you’ve got to have the right strategy and resources because victories don’t come by accident.”
Some of the best people on earth at executing successful strategies are those in the military and their level of discipline is also admirable. When you look at the scriptures great characters like King David and Gideon came up with solid strategies to be victorious over their enemies when they went to war.
You see strategies being applied in business, in our homes, schoolwork, etc because people understand that they are necessary for victory. Unfortunately most people don’t approach prayer with a strategy and treat it more like an afterthought. The obvious reason is that they do not understand the power of prayer and how it can impact their lives.
If you are one of those people you are selling yourself short and hindering your own potential. In order to develop your full potential you also need to invest time with God and meditating on His Word. Let us look at 3 solid reasons why having a prayer strategy will set you up for success:
1. The devil has a strategy for you
It would be foolish to go to battle without knowing who or what you are up against. Whenever God speaks a promise over your life and shows you things to come be assured that you are going to come across hardships and persecutions. When such things happen know that the enemy is trying to frustrate you and steal your destiny.
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” ~ John 10:10
This is the pattern you will see throughout the scriptures in people like Joseph who was sold into slavery by his brothers; David who was persecuted by King Saul, and Jesus whom the devil tempted in the wilderness. All these men stood firm and did not allow their destinies to be stolen.
2. Your warfare is spiritual
I remember at a seminar where I learned that not everything we see with our naked eyes is the truth. By nature we fight battles in the flesh with the desire to change things for the better. While doing what you need to do is important understand that everything in the physical realm is a manifestation of what we do not see in the spiritual realm.
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh: for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.” ~ 2 Corinthians 10: 3-4
Once you understand that warfare is spiritual you will approach prayer differently and see a change in your life. It could be a prayer for strength, prayer for wisdom or any other request but you will see the power of God manifesting in your life or situation.
3. Failure to plan is planning to fail
The most common cause for failure besides not having the right strategy is a lack of vision. This is how the Bible puts it,
“Where there is no vision, the people perish.” ~ Proverbs 29:18
Without prayer you are just getting into the battlefield with no idea how and what you should do which is very tragic. Just like you would develop a strategy to carry out the tasks on your job description you also need a strategy for your prayer life to overcome the enemy and have fullness of life.
