4 Life Lessons You Can Learn from Priscilla Shirer

- in Profiles

There’s not many people that can greatly inspire others to become better versions of themselves. They are few and far between, more so those that can inspire both men and women. Priscilla Shirer is one of those few people that fall under this category.

I only got to know about her almost a year ago but have gleaned some valuable nuggets of wisdom to apply to my own life. Priscilla Shirer leads a ministry called Going Beyond Ministries working mostly with women and inspiring them as she leads them in Bible study.

She is the daughter of Tony Evans, has a background in motivational speaking having worked with the late Zig Ziglar at one point in her career. She has added actress to her resume more recently having starred in the Kendrick Brothers movie, “War Room”.

I once learned at a seminar about the Law of matching and modelling. It basically says that if you want to be successful you must find someone who has what you want and do what they do. Here are 4 life lessons can learn from Priscilla and apply to your own life:

1. Commitment to God

Listen to her speak or watch videos and you will feel the love she has for God. She is a mighty prayer warrior who inspires other women to spend time in prayer and in the word of God. While most people trust in their own human efforts to become successful Priscilla Shirer puts God at the centre of everything that she does.

If you want to fully develop your life’s potential then you need to give God your time and He will give you the strategies to carry out and fulfil your life’s purpose. This is something that Priscilla does really well. God is at the centre of everything that she does.

2. Commitment to family

By her own admission she is first a wife and mother before anything else. Most of us get so caught up in the pursuit of our life’s purpose that we tend to ignore the most important people in our lives. Family relationships are the most important relationships everyone has.

Without family all the life pursuits mean nothing at the end of the day. In the book of 1 Samuel 2-4 in the Holy Bible, Eli the priest lost his ministry because he neglected his sons who became wayward due to the lack of attention they so needed from their father.

Priscilla finds a balance between all those different roles and because of that her who whole family is happy and fulfilled. This one lesson could be one of the most important that you get from her.

3. Connect with Your Audience

The reason she is able to touch so many lives is because of her ability to engage her followers through social media and various platforms. What comes to mind is her YouTube series, “The Chat”. Through these various platforms she provides valuable education to her audience that helps them solve their life’s challenges and helping them become what God created them to be.

The key thing to remember is that people are motivated by people that meet their needs and not those who have their own interests at heart. That is the way Jesus touched lives here on earth. He met people’s needs which allowed Him to lead them to the Kingdom of God.

4. Be Adventurous

Until the time Priscilla Shirer cast for the movie, War Room she had never acted anywhere before. When she got the call from the Kendrick Brothers to be the lead actress she admits she did not welcome the idea with open arms.

She prayed about it and felt that God was leading her to go ahead. Getting into new territory is always daunting but her movie performance reached many more people around the world than she may have done otherwise. I for one only got to know about her when I watched the movie.

Some opportunities are open doors to further your ministry and touch many more lives. Be open to the ones that are in line with what God has called you to do and pray about them.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post and I hope it will help you become a better person as a result.
