7 Reasons Why You Must Do What You Fear to Rise Higher

7 Reasons Why You Must Do What You Fear to Rise Higher

- in Life

Fear is false evidence appearing real and has been used by the devil for centuries to keep you from realizing your full potential in Christ Jesus. If the devil can keep you chained by fear he knows that you won’t be effective in your Kingdom mandate.

The Bible has over three hundred references telling us to not be afraid of anything. God is with us in every situation if we identify with and put our trust in Him. What if the things you fear are exactly what you must confront in order to become your best version?

Here are 7 reasons why you must confront your fears and deal with them decisively:

Growth is experienced outside your comfort zone

Realizing a dream will always stretch you beyond your current level of comfort. If it were easy everyone’s dream would come true but that isn’t the case. It’s like what John C Maxwell says,

“People are like rubber bands. They must be stretched in order for them to be effective.”

When you think you can only study one hour a day, perhaps you need to stretch yourself to study for one and a half to two hours instead. If you pray for only two minutes at a time maybe you should aim to pray fervently for ten minutes. If you run 1km every morning maybe you should try 2km and see the difference that it makes.

You can look at fear as an indicator for areas where you need to grow your capacity to meet the challenges of the moment. Growth is not always easy but necessary to become what you were created to be. So with every challenge there’s a growth opportunity to help you get to the next level. When you experience growth you will feel good about it.

That’s where your breakthrough lies

The word breakthrough implies breaking through something; most likely an obstacle. These are obstacles that try to keep you from getting to the next level. Without the required personal growth on your part you’ll find it hard to get past them. Every successful person had to overcome some kind of obstacle to reach the next level.

Jesus Christ had to overcome the pain of the cross so that we might have salvation and everlasting life. There are obstacles you’ve had to overcome in your own life to get to where you are. Fear has a way of keeping you from attempting certain things but that’s where you need to go to see your dream come to pass.

Successful people are successful not because they don’t have any fear. They choose to act in spite of the fear because they know there is a great reward on the other side. Refuse to allow fear to keep you from your breakthrough.

You have a shield of faith at your disposal

The Bible tells us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. The word of God brings life into any and every situation that you may encounter. Meditating on His word grows your faith which will help you withstand the fiery darts of the enemy. Without faith it’s impossible to please God too.

If you allow fear to constrain you your life will become smaller and smaller. You have to declare with boldness God’s promises. Even if you find yourself in a difficult economy God’s word is bigger than that and will transform your situation if you allow Him to. Difficult situations are an opportunity to see the goodness of God if you allow it.

You must spend time studying the Bible and praying every day to develop your relationship with God and grow your faith. You are more than a conqueror and can do all things through Christ who gives you the strength. Don’t be like the average believer that doesn’t use this powerful weapon even though it’s at your disposal.

To inspire others to overcome their fears

People like to follow a courageous leader even though they may not have all the answers. There’s something about boldness that inspires the people around you to step up and take on their challenges head on. Being courageous is one of the marks of great leadership.

When David slaughtered Goliath the giant we learn later that other giant killers came to the fore. When Gideon stepped up to the calling of God on his life he inspired an army of three hundred men to conquer a much larger army in battle. You see it in sports when a stand out player inspires their teammates to perform at a higher level than usual.

Courage is contagious. Don’t listen to the lies of the enemy that you can’t do certain things. Listen instead to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit that says you can. The devil is a liar and the father of all lies so you can’t trust anything he says to you no matter how real it might seem.

Opportunity to see God’s greatness

When I first started this blog I never knew how far reaching it would be or if people would even be inspired by it. All sorts of thoughts ran through my mind. I wondered if anyone would even care what I shared or if it would help their lives in anyway.

What I’ve learned to do over time is to take small steps based on the light I see. When I do that I find that a couple more steps get revealed to me and so on and so on. Over a period of time and looking back I am amazed at the lives I have touched and keep reaching.

I have learned new skills along the way that I didn’t really know at some point to keep growing the blog and its reach around the world. And this is just the beginning.

At each stage God has showed me things I never would have seen had I not taken the small steps. Sometimes we make the mistake of waiting for the big breakthrough to believe that God is with us but He is there all the time. Even in the small things He still shows His greatness and goodness towards His children.

Recover lost ground

The Bible tells us that the devil’s primary job is to steal, kill and destroy. The Son of God came to give us life in abundance. The devil is relentless with his mandate and you have to fight back to recover all the things he’s stolen from you. Don’t let him steal your dreams and joy.

Failure to act is the devil’s stranglehold on you to make you keep ceding ground to him. If you allow him to do that he’ll keep wreaking havoc to no end in your life. As hard as it may be you need to step up and fight for what is rightfully yours as a child of God. You were not born to struggle for your livelihood or live in ill health. You were made to thrive.

Seek help from an accountability partner if you find it hard doing it by yourself but one thing for sure is you must take ownership. You alone are responsible for your life and the people under your care.

Fight back with the Word of God which is like kryptonite to the devil. He can’t stand believers that stand firm on God’s promises.

Begin a new chapter for future generations

When you step out in faith and face your fears it may result in setting a new pattern for future generations in your family. A quote from the book, “The Resolution for Men” goes like this,

The generations of a family will lead one another further and further away from God unless a chain breaker steps up and turns things around.

Fear to stand up to evil or wrong practices will keep you and your family bound. This will result in never experiencing true freedom in life. Things like idol worship takes place in many homes today, and idols come in different forms. Uncontrolled access to social media, pornography, and money are some forms of idols that lead many astray.

Are you going to be the person that steps up and turns all of that around so that your family actively seeks God? You may be questioned and ridiculed but keep the end in mind as you seek to blaze a new trail for future family generations. God is just waiting for you to step up because He’s always ready.
