In one of my posts I spoke about how music is such a powerful tool to influence people’s behavior but we did not really cover it in-depth. Music moves people in many different ways. It can make us cry, laugh, smile, feel encouraged, motivated, empowered, etc. It particularly connects with our inner being either because of the lyrics or the beat.
I mentioned in passing that a lot of today’s music has destructive patterns particularly on young people and it’s so ‘cool’ that it’s not really easy to realize it unless you look deeper. God is the creator of all things in this world and music is also part of His creation. His original purpose for music was for mankind to praise and worship him as indicated in the book of Isaiah,
“This people I have formed for myself; they shall declare my praise.” ~ Isaiah 43:21
When the enemy was cast out of heaven for his pride and desire to be worshipped like God he went with a third of the angels and as a result he has influenced a lot of the worldly music there is today which involves worshipping him.
In the book, “The Great Connection,” Bonnie Deuschle teaches the Hebrew words for praise as well as the significance of each one of them. The different forms of praise to the Lord are designed to bring us closer to God and connect with him at the spirit level like what John 4:24 says, “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
When we connect with God at that level that is when he gives us revelation pertaining to our lives and what He would have us do to fulfil His purpose for our lives. Bonnie Deuschle has a saying that goes, “Worship precedes revelation.” We are all sinners and therefore we ought to humble ourselves and seek his face daily so that we are in tune with Him. When we are tune with Him is when we are able to grasp the great plans He has for our lives.
In all there are 7 Hebrew words for praise that Bonnie breaks down and explains each one of them with a lot of clarity to give understanding. Learning these truths will help you see why it’s critical to be aware of the kind of music that you listen to as well as what your children are listening to. It is part of the enemy’s deception to lead a whole generation astray.
In the book some of the lessons you will learn are:
- The significance of raising your hands in worship
- The power in shouting
- The significance of dancing before the Lord,
A lot of us are robbed of our destinies because we lack an understanding of these truths and so I highly recommend that you get a copy for yourself. More importantly when you know these truths share them with others. Be sure to share your comments below as well as to share the post on social media with your friends.
