A lot of us have challenges understanding what the purpose of our existence really is when we fail to find meaning in life. I know at one point I struggled myself and I’m aware that many other people I know have the same struggles and don’t really know how to find the answers that they are looking for. I recently came across a pattern that illustrates how you can find those answers.
I’m currently reading the book of Ezekiel in the Bible and as I was reading the first few chapters some things jumped out at me that I felt I should share. I believe that someone will benefit from the insights that I believe God was showing me. What are the ways in which God leads us in the right direction, you may be asking. The following points will shed some light:
1. God shows you a vision
Since God created us He knows exactly what His purpose(s) are in our lives. That is why we should never worry because when we align ourselves with His Word and Holy Spirit He will lead us in the right direction.
“Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the River Chebar, that the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God.” ~ Ezekiel 1:1
He calls us and shows us the vision of what He would have us accomplish for the Kingdom through us. Before we were in the womb He had already fashioned that purpose.
2. God Commissions you
When He has shown us the vision God sends us to a particular area where He wants us to make a difference. He may call you to a particular job, a ministry, a person maybe; a lot of the time when God commissions us what He would have us do does not make sense in the natural and so it’s very easy to doubt or get discouraged.
“And He said to me: Son of man, I am sending you to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against Me; they and their fathers have transgressed against Me to this very day.” ~ Ezekiel 2:3
It is worth remembering that His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. That is why we need to trust Him with all our heart. As believers we ought to live by faith and not by sight.
3. God Outlines your Responsibilities
Finally, God will show you exactly what you are supposed to do. Remember again that some of the things will not make sense but you should trust what He instructs you to do. Your only job is to follow His instructions and He will do that which you cannot do in your own strength. Look at what He said to Ezekiel,
“Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.
Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man that the righteous should not sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning; also you will have delivered your soul.” ~ Ezekiel 3:19, 21
If you’re a leader you can only do the best you can to encourage and inspire people to follow you but you cannot force them to do so. If you’re in business all you can do is play your part by offering your product or service to the best of your ability but you may not always get the desired outcome.
In other words your job is to prepare your fields so that God brings the rain. At times it will rain abundantly, at sometimes there will be little rain and at other times it may not rain at all. However, God makes all things to work together for our good. Trust in His faithfulness because He is true to His promises and will not disappoint you.
